The Right Mindsets

In real estate investing, as with any endeavor in life, having the right mindsets can be more important than knowing all the techniques or actions to take.  I know numerous real estate investors with tons of knowledge who have the wrong mindsets and therefore are not as successful as they want to be.

The right mindsets allow you to overcome all kinds of challenges you face along your life’s journey.  For real estate investors perhaps you don’t have enough money, enough knowledge, enough experience, or you just can’t find a deal to put an offer on.

Here is one example where mindset mastery is critical to success.  The “not enoughs” listed above all deal with the lack of some kind of resource.  The truth is these resources exist all around us.  My good friend and Master Coach, Paul Finck, says we aren’t lacking resources when we let these “not enoughs” keep us from our goals, what we are lacking resourcefulness.

With the “abundant” mindset comes the knowledge that all the resources you need are all around you all you have to do is figure out how to bring them into your life and put them to work for you.

With the “I am in control” mindset you understand that you are 100% responsible for the outcome.  Sure circumstances can impact us but we are 100% responsible for how we react to those circumstances.  This week on 60 minutes I witnessed guys without legs climb some of the highest mountains in the world, they understood this principle.  Where we are today is a result of choices we have made throughout our life.  You choose each day with each decision you make.

With the “I’m never going to quit” mindset you understand that if you just keep pushing and trying new things, eventually you will reach your goal.

Unfortunately most people will blame circumstances for their condition in life and never make the effort to change because of their mindsets.

Fortunately, you can develop the right mindsets of: abundance, 100% responsible, and never ever quit, with desire and education.

This is one of the reasons it is so wise to have a coach.  All super successful people I have met have at least one coach.  A great coach will hold you accountable, show you the path to take, and help you develop the right mindsets.

I prefer to have coaches I can talk to and exchange ideas with because they can help you reach your goals quicker.  However, you can also develop the right mindsets by reading personal development books or listening to self-help books on CD/MP3s.  There are some great one’s out there by John Maxwell, Darren Hardy, Ken Blanchard, Stephen Covey, Anthony Robbins, and many many more.  The best option is to fill your mind with positive information from as many sources as you can.  You will start to think differently and act different.

The point is when you want to be in a place you’ve never been, i.e. more successful, you are going to need to develop your mindsets and create new actions to get there.

Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) said it this way –

“Your beliefs become your thoughts.

Your thoughts become your words.

Your words become your actions.

Your actions become your habits

Your habits become your values.

Your values become your destiny.”

So as you fill you mind with positive information your beliefs, thoughts, words, actions, habits, values and eventually your life will become all you want it to be.
